I have a characteristic defined as Data Type CHAR, Number of Chars == 2.
When I go into CT04 to increase the length, the Number of Chars box is greyed out.
Change mode is requiring a change number, so I provide a CMR with all the class/characteristic objects selected.
Isn't it standard functionality to be able to change this field in a characteristic?
I see the characteristic is assigned to a class type 300.

We have been using CU50 for calculating our multi-level configurable products (each sub-level assembly is a dummy material).
Normally the configutation values are available at product variant on MRP3 view. The calculation determines the variants based on this.
Everything goes well until a sublevel assembly has a fix variant at its MRP3 view. Then the subassembly BOM doesn't explode if there is a material variant. As configurable material can not be removed, the problem is not solvable by correcting master data.
Is there any idea, why a configurable material on MRP3 view would become a problem for CU50 calculation

Here is the log about the material with error message. However the item has a valid super BOM.
If there wasn't any variant on MRP3, the costing run could run without any error.

Hi Experts,
I have created a characteristic 'Department' and when I assign the table 'T527O' in the Value tab it gives an error " Check table T527O has too many key fields".
In the error it says that "Check tables with more than one key field are not supported. However,
if you enter a function module for checking values, you can refer to any check table in your own coding."
I am able to see one radio button called "Function Module" when I click on Other Value Check on Value tab, but do not know how to use that.
Could anyone please guide me in this.
My requirement is:
1. create a characteristic called department.
2. link it to a class,
3. while creating a document in CV01N the f4 help should be available in department field.

I have created myself a Dependency Net and assigned the constraints i want
to use to validate certain entries into my Configuration. I can see that the constraint
is working, as when inconsistent values are entered, the inconsistency is being
raised in the configuration. What is not happening is that the inconstancy is
not raising any issue preventing the save of the order. When I originally set
up the constraint it worked as designed, as i have always seen constraints,
when there is an inconsistency the configuration can not be saved in the order.
Later on since i had my constraints working as expected, something changed in
the system, where the order item can be saved with inconsistent configuration
values. I can only assume someone made a change somewhere which impacts my
constraint and how inconsistent configuration works in the order.
Hoping that someone can point me in the right direction where this is controlled.

I wanted to publish a document on SDN regarding Product Structure usig iPPE . At every moment of creating the Document I have saved the document .Because of time constraints I could not finish the document in one sitting. I have saved the draft format and logged out of SCN .But when I logged in again ,I am not able to find the same .
Please let me know how can I find the document .Document title is 'Product Structure using iPPE'.

Well, we're using the BAPI (BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2) which creates the sales order successfully but without the characteristic values in line items.
We're passing data to the following parameters - ORDER_CFGS_REF, ORDER_CFGS_INST, ORDER_CFGS_VALUE to create the variant config but not able to see it getting created.
Pls find attached BAPI coding document for your reference.
If you could throw any light on this issue will be of great help for us.

Now I would like to retrieve a report of a Characteristics Value for my required selection of Materials (Nearly 20 Materials). Is there any report where we can retrieve the Report of the Characteristics value for these required 20 Materials.

Hello Dear Friends,
I have a question regarding the behaviour of SAP for change logging, when we make some change in characteristics values of a class in the classification view of MM record.
I see that the behaviour is quite strange.
Prior to going into detail, let me inform that, I have already activated the change logging for the class type & object in customization under "Cross application components".
I can view the change logs for any change in value for a characteristics of the class type 001. (Material class)
But in the changes the old value of characteristics is not shown many of the times.(Strangely sometime it shows the old values as well) Only new value what is being entered is shown.
If I remove the characteristics value, mean I make it blank. Then the change log doesn't show anything. I just can't understand why there is so much anomaly in the behaviour in which change is getting logged?
I have attached a screen shot of the logs for changes for your reference.
Note: Got one reference to this behaviour. But the lines are not understood properly.

I am new to VC and working for Steel Industry.
I want to do characteristic Value Assingment using MM01/MM02 - MRP3 view - > clicked Configure Variant.
The error shows as :
Message no. C1821
The characteristic conflict shows for the characteristic Grade.
I have created the below masters.
Characteristics (CT04)
Class type 300 with Characteristics (CL02)
Material Master Classification assigned the class type 300 (MM01/MM02)
Configurable Material (MM01)
Dependency - (CU01/CU02)
Configuration Profile (CU41/CU42)
Anybody can please help me to solve this issue.

I created class(CL02) and characteristics(CT04) in SAP. Now what are the components available in BOM(CS12) is required to display in CLASS(CL30N/CL30).If any changes made in BOM that changes automatically made in Class(CL30N) also required. Is there any configuration settings is available in SAP?(Without using UPLOAD Programs(LSMW,BDC...). Using LSMW uploaded all BOM components to CLASS, but any change made in BOM again update is required class manually(LSMW). If there is any configuration setting available BOM to CLASS automatic changes in SAP?

Hi Experts,
We have recently upgraded our system from SAP 6.0 EHP5 to 6.0 EHP7. We currently still have a box not upgraded and have noticed the following difference.
Old Box:
I create a characteristic group with the following setting Sequence, Sales, and Aggregate and assign characteristics. When I test the model, the characteristic group appears on the bottom of the general tab with the associated characteristics in a pop-up window when I click on the line.
New Box:
I create a characteristic group with the same settings and characteristics assigned. When I test the model no group appears in the general tab. When I search for the characteristics, they do not appear. I can however click value assignment --> overview and see the group. When I click on the group I see a list of the characteristics but cannot modify their values.
This behavior is only happening on models created after the upgrade, previously created models all work as they did prior to the upgrade. Any ideas to how we can have the old behavior in the upgraded system?

I have a strange issue that I need help with please the multilevel characteristic values dependency
first I created Material Z Semi-finished with classification view which has 2 characteristics as shown below
then I created Material M KMAT with only one characteristic as shown
then I created the BOM for material M as shown
now I tested the variant with the dependency through PMEVC as following

Now lets check the Planned Order
NOW IT GIVES A WRONG RESULT
CAN ANYBODY HELP ?????
