Production Order Configuration
Hi,
So when a production order is created and released, it has it's own configuration that can be different from the Sales Order.
This means that if I change the classification of the related sales order, values will differ until I do a Re-read master data in the production order or if I use OCM.
I'm trying to read this configuration with function module VC_I_GET_CONFIGURATION for example, and I keep getting the classification of the sales order only.
Example:
Sales Order item 0000647709/000010 in VBAP has CUOBJ = 000000000000022173
Production order 000001001384 in AFPO has CUOBJ = 000000000000022173
So of course if I run FMVC_I_GET_CONFIGURATION with instance number = 000000000000022173, I will get the same result in both cases (the sales order configuration).
However, when I display the production order, it has a different configuration from the sales order.
How can I get the real production order configuration ?

IDOC for Revision Level of material not getting generated in PDR
Dear Experts,
We are setting up a PDR to distribute Product structure information from a central ECC Master system to other ECC systems. The information sent to other systems should be reduced with respect to materials for example, other plant, MRP, Accouting views are not required to be sent. For this we have created a reduced message type for material in BD53 transaction with MATMAS05 as basic type.
Further, distribution model has been set up which included change number (ECMMAS), revision number (ECMREV) and other standard message types for VC objects along with this reduced message type for material.
The sequence for objects has been set up in UPSC01 transaction, where ECM object precedes material (reduced) and ZREV object follows ECM and Reduced Material Object. This has been maintained keeping standard settings suggested by SAP. These objects have been included in the packet type created for this distribution.
While executing distribution (CRWBD transaction), all objects are getting generated except the Revision level (ZREV). Assuming ZREV is a customized object type, we might have missed any particular setting. We have compared almost bit by bit to a working PDR connection, but failed to fix this.
Just to add more, we have activated the events needed, ALE connection is fine (other objects getting distributed correctly), workflow settings are activated.
Please provide any information that might help us in fixing this Revision level issue for materials. Since ZREV is a custom object, does it need some BADI or enhancement, user exits for it to work?

Automatic assign settlement rule during order creation
Hi Team,
We are trying to assign a settlement rule to a maintainance order during creation. However the order creation fails as it determines both sender and receiver as order itself. In the customizing for settlement profiles, "Cost Center" has been maintained as default. Can you please help me understand how it determines the default as order and not cost center from customizing.

Appending new characteristic in existing class (class type 300)
Hi,
We have created multiple classes with various characteristics assigned to it. Now, we have a requirement to add new characteristics to all classes.
Can you please suggest a way to update this new characteristic to multiple classes. We have tried LSMW Idoc method but it expects to delete all existing characteristics within the class and add new set of characteristics which is not possible.

How can I use KMAT material type?
I am not a programmer or configuration expert in SAP. I am a general manager in a mfg company that uses SAP. I want to know more about material type KMAT. I know from basic investigation that it is used when you want to have a product that is configurable. However, I want to know if I can use it at a component level where I am making a component, say, a series of basic stamped metal parts that go into a final assembly, configurable, so I can change their color without creating a new part number for every single variant of color (p/n 3111111 for a red housing, then 3111112 for black, and so on...). Right now...my inhouse SAP "specialists" always tell me I can't have a configurable material in the B.O.M. of a parent item. Surely an ERP system as powerful as SAP should not be so limited. I'll take all the advise I can get on this....THANKS!

mass change characteristic value
Hi,
I've Created Characteristic - size - with charcateristic values 10 , 20 & Assigned to CLASS: CLASS TYPE 001, this i've assigned in material master - in classification tab & have set SIZE= 10.
i want to change characteristic value from 10 to 20, In 5000 materials numbers
i'm unable to see classification tab details in MASS tcode
can you Pls. suggest how i can mass change characteristic value in material master.

Inconsistent characteristic value assignment error
Hi,
I am new to VC and working for Steel Industry.
I want to do characteristic Value Assingment using MM01/MM02 - MRP3 view - > clicked Configure Variant.
The error shows as :
Inconsistent characteristic value assignment
Message no. C1821
The characteristic conflict shows for the characteristic Grade.
I have created the below masters.
Characteristics (CT04)
Class type 300 with Characteristics (CL02)
Material Master Classification assigned the class type 300 (MM01/MM02)
Configurable Material (MM01)
Dependency - (CU01/CU02)
Configuration Profile (CU41/CU42)
Anybody can please help me to solve this issue.

BOM components result check in SAP Variant Configuration
Hi Experts,
I'm using the Variant Configuration and I am faced with the following problem :
- I use the CU50 transaction to simulate the configuration of a Product using the various characteristics required.
- Among these characteristics, I use to trigger the errors made during configuration.
- Then, based on the super BOM and selection criteria via Object Dependency (OD), I check the components required for the desired configuration.
My issue is :
In some configurations, I cannot integrate one or more components as they are not yet created in the system (the simplest solution is to create them in the system), but for manyr reasons I want to create an error message saying, for example,” the configuration is Incomplete “when running the CU50.
My idea is :
The “Missed”component " (Not yet to be created in the system) will be caught in the super BOM as a “Text Item” with selection criteria in the OD as usual.
When I simulate my configuration via CU50 that will appeal to a "missing" component, I want the system generates me an error message indicating that “the configuration is Incomplete” with a list of "missing" components (i.e with item category " T " as text item in the super BOM)
Is there any Function Module (or code) that I can use in this way (perhaps in a procedure) to achieve this control and generate the desired error message?

Dependencies not working properly if class item (200) is added in Sales order BOM
Dear Experts,
Scenario:
Configurable Material : A
Config. Profile : Pland/Production order with Multilevel BOM Explosion (PP01 BoM application).
Dependencies (Procedures, constraints) at config. profile level
Before adding the class item in sales order bom VC is working fine (sales & prod. BOM Explosion, Dependencies etc.)
After adding the class item in Sales order BOM dependencies are not triggering. I have checked activating the trace in sales order.
I found that the input values to dependencies are not getting updated and the dependencies are not executed / terminated.
After coming out of configuration screen Sales bom is exploding but without Class item material.
We have checked the same class item (200) in Production BoM. in this case Dependencies & BOM explosion is working fine.
Please help. We need to add class items in Sales order & Production BOM in order.

BAPI for Creating Sales Order For Variant Configuration Materials

Well, we're using the BAPI (BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2) which creates the sales order successfully but without the characteristic values in line items.
We're passing data to the following parameters - ORDER_CFGS_REF, ORDER_CFGS_INST, ORDER_CFGS_VALUE to create the variant config but not able to see it getting created.
Pls find attached BAPI coding document for your reference.
If you could throw any light on this issue will be of great help for us.

Pop Up of Characteristic During sales order creation
Hi,
In normal sceanrio we are getting screen interface for the characteristic in sales order.
But my requirement is while sales order creation system while give pop - up for specific characterstic in specified sequence.
Please let me know how to configure this.

Pricing based on Variant configuaration/Variant condition records
Hi All,
Could you please suggest me how to configure the below requirements:
We have variant based pricing and currently there is only one variant which is used for pricing in sales order. Say X
There is another Variant Y for the same material & Plan is to use this for pricing too.
Condition records of both variants are maintained in the same access sequence.
Presently the configuration is in place and both variants are appearing in the sales order.
Plan is to have only one pricing activated in the sales order( for which the condition record is maintained)
If both condition records are maintained, logic has to pick Y variant.
Your inputs will be appreciated.

Change configuration profile for material variants
Hi All,
I have a KMAT and some configurated material variants (FERT) assigned to the KMAT with proper configuration.
When I create a new configuration profile for the KMAT and lock the old one in CU42 then CU50 is ok and taking the new configuration profile for the KMAT.
However for the material variants which were already assigned I get the following error message in CU50:
No configuration profile selected for configurable object KMAT
Message no. CX005
Diagnosis
You entered a material that has no configuration profile, or the configuration profile is not released.
Procedure
Either create a configuration profile for the material or check the status of the configuration profile.
In MM03 when I click on the Configure variant button on Basic Data II or MRP3 view I get this message:
Specify a valid configurable material
Message no. M3544
Diagnosis
The system could not perform configuration value assignment for the configurable material specified. If you have not yet created configuration parameters for the configurable material, this may be the reason.
Procedure
Check your screen and field values.
Create configuration parameters for the configurable material or enter a valid configurable material.
How can I change/update the material variants to use the new configuration profile?

AUSP table is not updated

KMAT in absence of Variant
Hello All,
I have a question on KMAT material Type. In one of the client
I worked we had KMAT Configurable material and we defined
various variants (Finished Products). So when KMAT was used in Sales
order and while configuring if the match was found for variant, the KMAT
material was replaced by the Variant in the Sales Order and then MRP and Production
Order took place for the Variant and the variant was sold. My question is off-course we cant keep
on creating variants for each and every combination, the purpose of VC is lost then. So if the
variant is not found can we Produce KMAT (through PP Production order), receive the
KMAT material in Inventory and sell the KMAT Material ??
