CU50 Configuration: Characteristic Value Assignment & Inconsistencies

Hello Gurus,

I am using CU50 to test my configured material profile.  There are many 'entry required' characteristics, some depending on a value selection of another. 

 

When testing, I like to go directly to the yellow light under 'Status' and double-click for a list of inconsistencies/entry required chars that are not yet set with a value. 

     There may be 5 characteristics that need a value, but if I select the second(2nd) characteristic that pops-up, the remaining four(4) will get populated through table constraints and/or more entry required chars will become inconsistent. Therefore, I want the second(2nd) characteristic to show first(1st).

 

The question is: When double-clicking the yellow/inconsistency button, what determines the (sorting) order in which the inconsistent characteristics are displayed?  Can I control this somehow?

Delete unit of measure from class characteristic

Hi,

 

I need to delete the unit of measure from a class characteristic (in CT04). I get the error:

 

Unit used cannot be changed

Message no. C1 132

Diagnosis

You want to change the unit of measurement for a characteristic. This is not allowed once allowed values have been maintained for the characteristic, or once the characteristic is used.

Procedure: Change your entries.

 

What do I need to do so I can change the uom?

Link Variant table to database table problem.

Classification team,

 

We are working on linking variant table to a database tableand transfer the variant table data content to database table.

 

This activity has one limitation. While transferring variant table data content to database table.

  • The variant table must not contain interval values.

 

Right now we have most of the table in the form of range.

Thickness minimum and thickness maximum.

 

How we can handle this kind of data? Do we stop the activity of linking variant table to a database table in this kind of situation?

F4 Help for Characteristics

Hi Experts,

 

I have created a characteristic 'Department' and when I assign the table 'T527O' in the Value tab it gives an error " Check table T527O has too many key fields".

 

In the error it says that "Check tables with more than one key field are not supported. However,

if  you enter a function module for checking values, you can refer to any check table in your own coding."

 

I am able to see one radio button called "Function Module" when I click on Other Value Check on Value tab, but do not know how to use that.

Could anyone please guide me in this.

 

My requirement is:

1. create a characteristic called department.

2. link it to a class,

3. while creating a document in CV01N the f4 help should be available in department field.

VC Bom Quantity

Hi,

 

i've setup variant configuration for Material Computer -with sales order bom Explosion.

 

in cs01 i've setup BOM for Computer with quantiry 1 ,  monitor -1 / keyboard -1 /mouse -1 .

 

Now i'm creating order for configurable material Computer with Quantity 1 - after selecting VC-attributes am getting BOM exploded in sales order.

Now customer wants to buy 2 keyboard & 2 mouse. (instead of 1)

 

10 Computer (main item)  qty 1

20 Monitor  qty 1

30 Keyboard  qty 2

40 Mouse  qty 2

 

can you Pls. let me know how i can select 2 qty for Keyboard & mouse using configurator.

Variant Configuration "VC match', CU50, Material variant, MATERIAL_SAVE_CONFIGURATION

Hi All,

 

I am calling CU50 in custom program, where i can provide all characteristics values in screen and check whether the configuration exists or not by using VC check button. If the configuration is not exists then the process is coming to custom program and proceed with material creation using function module MATERIAL_MAINTAIN_DARK’ and  save the configuration to the newly created material MATERIAL_SAVE_CONFIGURATION.

 

But In this CU50, i don;t have SAVE button [Grayed out], due to this i am able to check whether the configuration is exists or not. But configuration is not SAVED, Hence i am not able to get the instance number to get the internal table related data E1CUCFG, E1CUINS,E1CUVAL AND E1CUCOM which are required to MATERIAL_SAVE_CONFIGURATION.

 

My question is Is there any alternative to without SAVE the configuration in CU50, but configuration has to create.

SAP Error Message no. CX005 No configuration profile selected for configurable object

Dear Experts,

 

I am getting the error 'No configuration profile selected for configurable object xxx' while testing the scenario with the tcode CU50. Material is created with mat type KMAT, assigned item group as '0002', assigned class 300 to the material, created BOM and assigned dependencies, created Config. profile for the material. Now while checking with tcode CU50, I am getting the above mentioned error.

 

Pls. could you let me know if I am missing anything..

Variant Configuration - Procedure vs Precondition

Hi,

 

The issue is the following. I have to constraint the values of a characteristics taking into account the values of the predecesor caharatericti but instead of making a Precondition for each characteristic value I'd prefer to create one procedure for the chararacteristic.

In fact, i've created one procedure and it works, but not as i'd like. I mean, depite the characteristica value of the predecesor characteristica the system shows me all the values of the following characteristic although it only able me two select the correct one (if I chose any incorrect value the systems shows me an inconsistency).

 

I'd like that, via procedure, depending on the value selected in the previos characteristic the system ONLY displays the valid values in the following caharacterisitc as it occurs with individual preconditions.

 

That's my code.

Inconsistent characteristic value assignment error

Hi,

 

I am new to VC and working for Steel Industry.

 

I want to do characteristic Value Assingment using MM01/MM02 - MRP3 view - > clicked Configure Variant.

 

The error shows as :

 

Inconsistent characteristic value assignment

Message no. C1821

 

The characteristic conflict shows for the characteristic Grade.

 

I have created the below masters.

 

Characteristics (CT04)

Class type 300 with Characteristics (CL02)

Material Master Classification assigned the class type 300 (MM01/MM02)

Configurable Material (MM01)

Dependency - (CU01/CU02)

Configuration Profile (CU41/CU42)

 

 

Anybody can please help me to solve this issue.

Change logging for classification not same as other change loggings in SAP

Hello Dear Friends,

 

I have a question regarding the behaviour of SAP for change logging, when we make some change in characteristics values of a class in the classification view of MM record.

 

I see that the behaviour is quite strange.

 

Prior to going into detail, let me inform that, I have already activated the change logging for the class type & object in customization under "Cross application components".

 

I can view the change logs for any change in value for a characteristics of the class type 001. (Material class)

 

But in the changes the old value of characteristics is not shown many of the times.(Strangely sometime it shows the old values as well) Only new value what is being entered is shown.

 

If I remove the characteristics value, mean I make it blank. Then the change log doesn't show anything. I just can't understand why there is so much anomaly in the behaviour in which change is getting logged?

 

I have attached a screen shot of the logs for changes for your reference.

 

Note: Got one reference to this behaviour. But the lines are not understood properly.

Increase the lenght of characteristics

Hi

 

We need to increase the length of characteristics from 30 to 60. Shall we increase the length provided by standard SAP. Will it affect any other screens/ functionlities if we change the length.

Hi,

 

I've Created Characteristic - size - with charcateristic values 10 , 20 & Assigned to CLASS: CLASS TYPE 001, this i've assigned in material master - in classification tab & have set SIZE= 10.

 

i want to change  characteristic value from 10 to 20, In 5000 materials numbers


i'm unable to see classification tab details in MASS tcode
can you Pls. suggest how i can mass change characteristic value in material master.

Issue when Transferring BOM Quantity Values to Superior Item

Hello All,

 

I need to transfer the BOM Quantity values which are created in the bills of material to my superior material as characteristic values. Following are the configurations performed.

 

Created characteristic Quantity and assigned the same to the class

Dynamic Sales Order BOM as per Charactertistics combination

Dear Experts,

 

Need your suggestions on how to map the below requirement.

 

Header Material Code:  Genset10

 

 

Requirement : -

1

While creating Sales order, user will select Genset material code

2

System will ask for Control panel option (may be a pop-up) and user will select one from the  options and enter

3

System will further ask for Additional material required and user might select none, one or more, from the available options and enter.

Further user will create production order with reference to the Sales order number and system will select the required alternative BOM for that, based on the options selected above in Sr. no. 2 and 3.

BAPI for Creating Sales Order For Variant Configuration Materials

Before posting this thread, we have referred many SDN threads, OSS notes and other sites for any sort of help..but no success..All threads and other referrals are not much of help as they are kind of incomplete( Perhaps, we are unable to understand them..no offense).

OSS: 549563

 

Well, we're using the BAPI (BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2) which creates the sales order successfully but without the characteristic values in line items.

We're passing data to the following parameters - ORDER_CFGS_REF, ORDER_CFGS_INST, ORDER_CFGS_VALUE to create the variant config but not able to see it getting created.

 

Pls find attached BAPI coding document for your reference.

 

If you could throw any light on this issue will be of great help for us.

Simulation of Variant configuration with Engineering application

Dear Experts,

 

I am aware of the variant configuration  with sale order processing. But I am not aware of the variant configuration process with Engineering configuration ie I want simulate the VC in t-code CU50 with the selection in configuration -> Engineering. Also please let me know the practical application of this selection with PLM and how it is used in BOM and task list
