Variant Matching in Multi level Configuration

Hi

I am facing a problem in variant matching. If somebody can help me on this, it will be great

 

We have one configurable material as main material always in the sales order. This material has a BOM. Based on the values of the characterisitics of main material and selection condition in BOM, we get the sub-items for the main material. This is working fine without any problems.

 

Some of these subitems are configurable materials. These subitems also have got material variants which are kept in stock. Now we are trying to enable variant matching for some of these configurable sub-items.

 

In the sales order after filling the VC of main item, the sub-items explode and the configuration of the sub-item is filled. Based on this configuration, when I click the material variant button, I can see the variant material proposed in the configuration screen at the bottom of the screen. However this variant item is not being replaced with the configurable sub-items. This is the functionality we want to have.

 

If I use the configurable sub-item as an independent item, the variant matching is working fine. The problem comes only when the configurable item is a sub-item of the main configurable item.

 

Please help on this. Let me know if I am not clear in expressing the problem.

CT04 and the 'several dependencies' issue

Hello everyone,

 

I'm new in the Community, and I hope I can help and learn as much as possible here

 

 

Let me share with you a little issue I have been struggling longer than what I'd like to regarding T codeCT04.

I will try to explain it as simplest as possible, as I have not much experience and I am also using a lot of business specific data:

 

 

I use CU01 for defining several dependencies such as:

DependencyD_A which definition is ENG_MOD='V6'

Dependency D_B which definition is ENG_MOD='WANKLE'

 

I use CL02 for defining a Class named ENG_PROPERTIES, and it has two Characteristics (ENG_YEAR and ENG_MOD).

 

I use CT04 for managing CharacteristicENG_YEAR.

I may want to define the Value2007 within the CharacteristicENG_YEAR, and create its Objects Dependencies.

 

If I set an Object Dependency called D_A (using the one I already made on CU01); then, the ENG_YEAR = 2007 has a Dependency with ENG_MOD = V6.

And everything is working properly!

 

PS: I am using a made-up example, trying to make it simple. This example could mean that one of the options of engines manufactured during 2007 could be a model of V6 engine...

 

HOWEVER!!!!!

 

If I set a second Object Dependency called D_B (using the one I already made on CU01); then, the ENG_YEAR = 2007SHOULD have both Dependencies with ENG_MOD = V6 and ENG_MOD = WANKLE.

This would mean that an engine manufactured during 2007 could be a V6 engine or a Wankle engine.

 

 

 

 

I use IA05 for defining a General Maintenance Task List for an engine called RP01. I link RP01 with ClassENG_PROPERTIES, and I fill in the Characteristics fields:

- ENG_MOD: V6.

- ENG_YEAR: 2007.

 

If I use these values, then SAP gives me an Inconsistency. And this does not happen if the Characteristic has ONLY ONE Object Dependency...

 

I feel like having two Object Dependencies does not work as a Logical OR. Could this be the reason?

 

I know a way to solve it, which is setting an Object Dependency which definition is ENG_MOD='V6' OR ENG_MOD='WANKLE'.

But due to the impact it has in the System (and in myself), this is not the option I would like to take...

 

Is there any formula for setting several Object Dependencies (already defined in CU01) working as OR?

 

I'm sorry for the huge message, but I wanted to explain it properly and the easiest way (even though is a large message, I hope it is not hard to understand).

Problem in creating Object dependency in BOM

Hi Gurus,

Want to use Varaint configuration with object dependency for selection of correct component based on characteristic values.

We have a Characteristic "ENGINE" with 2 values 100 and 200.

Trying to create a Selection Condition for the component in BOM, by accessing Extras -> Object Dependency -> Editor.

We have created OD as : ENGINE = '100'

System is giving error as

E28063 Reference to object $ROOT, $PARENT or $SELF required

E28023 Error in syntax check for simple condition

and if you select details of error it throws the following error..

E28063 Reference to object $ROOT, $PARENT or $SELF required

E28051 Reference to characteristic required

E28075 Character string required in inverted commas

E28050 Characteristic is multiple value ENGINE

E28091 Error in standard dependency: TYPE_OF

E28037 Logical expression required

E28023 Error in syntax check for simple condition

 

Please help us how to create this simple OD.

F4 Help for Characteristics

Hi Experts,

 

I have created a characteristic 'Department' and when I assign the table 'T527O' in the Value tab it gives an error " Check table T527O has too many key fields".

 

In the error it says that "Check tables with more than one key field are not supported. However,

if  you enter a function module for checking values, you can refer to any check table in your own coding."

 

I am able to see one radio button called "Function Module" when I click on Other Value Check on Value tab, but do not know how to use that.

Could anyone please guide me in this.

 

My requirement is:

1. create a characteristic called department.

2. link it to a class,

3. while creating a document in CV01N the f4 help should be available in department field.

Characteristic value delete

Dear experts,

I need to write a procedure which will do thw following job.

Ex: I have 2 chars. If I change the value of char1, I want the procedure to clear the value of char2.

 

Actually what I want to do isI have created a variant table and dependency net. Char1 is key, and char2 is the dependent char. In the first trial if I change the char1 it filters the values of char2. When I select a value for char2 and then chande the value of char1 I want the system to refresh the values of char2.

mass change characteristic value

Hi,

 

I've Created Characteristic - size - with charcateristic values 10 , 20 & Assigned to CLASS: CLASS TYPE 001, this i've assigned in material master - in classification tab & have set SIZE= 10.

 

i want to change  characteristic value from 10 to 20, In 5000 materials numbers


i'm unable to see classification tab details in MASS tcode
can you Pls. suggest how i can mass change characteristic value in material master.

Dependency, Characteristic open depending on another field

Hi All,

 

We are working with a scenario where we willl use some characteristics and dependencies.

We have been able to fill out values in one characteristic depending on another value.

 

But we would also like to switch a characterstic from Display to Open if a specific value is given to another characteristic.

 

Does anyone know how this should be written or where i can find documentation about how to this.

Dynamic Sales Order BOM as per Charactertistics combination

Dear Experts,

 

Need your suggestions on how to map the below requirement.

 

Header Material Code:  Genset10

 

 

Requirement : -

1

While creating Sales order, user will select Genset material code

2

System will ask for Control panel option (may be a pop-up) and user will select one from the  options and enter

3

System will further ask for Additional material required and user might select none, one or more, from the available options and enter.

Further user will create production order with reference to the Sales order number and system will select the required alternative BOM for that, based on the options selected above in Sr. no. 2 and 3.

Hi Gurus,

Variant Config Material Variant BOMs missing part

Greetings all,

 

I recently updated a model we're using to add a new characteristic. After doing so some of our existing Material Variants when viewed in CS12 have lost a Material that was showing up before this addition. This same material does show up in the results screen of CU50 however if the same variant is put in there.

 

The selection condition for this part that is playing hide and seek did have a line added to it to take the new characteristic into consideration and if that line is commented out the part will show in CS12 again. There were updates to the procedure as well to hide and set to a default no value of '0' the new characteristic unless certain countries are selected and I have tried removing parts of that block as well as the entire block and the only thing that seems to make the part come back is removing the line $root.EARLY_SENSE_PVSM = '0'. It is one of 4 characteristics in that selection condition that all are set up the same but for the character name.

 

The bit that is confusing to me though is how CU50 pulls the part fine which I would think means the code is executing properly but CS12 isn't getting it (and thus the production orders on the floor they use to assemble the product are missing it as well, and I believe there are some MRP issues happening where it's not reporting too those I do not understand as well however)

 

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated I've run out of things I know of to try. Thank you!

Copy BOM Component Characteristic value in material PR created by MRP Run

Dear Gurus,

 

My requirement is I have materials like thread to maintain color characteristic i have create class - color- class type is 023 , now i want user should able to maintain characteristic value in BOM component (thread) of semifinish material.  FG , SFG  are not having any characteristic.

Now in PR and PO we can maintain characteristic value in Material Data --->Configuration tab , Configuration tab will come only when there is tick in material is configurable at material basic data 2 view of thread and in CU41 I have to maintain material for class type 300 - Variant , then in class assignment i have select class type 300 and 023 both and maintain class , both are having same characteristic please make me correct if i am doing wrong process, if i am not maintaining class assignment 300 in CU41, in manual PO system not allowing to enter characteristic value in configuration tab . so i maintain both class assignment 300 and 023.

 

  Now for manual PR and PO system showing configuration tab and from PO configuration tab characteristic value is coming in MIGO automatically but when i am running MRP for finish material the auto PR generated by system for material thread is not showing configuration tab in Material Data of PR. I have maintain characteristic value in BOM --->Extra--->Batch Classification. Please guide me how to archive this.

is it possibile to create a characteristic code (CT04)  that contains only figures ? the system rise the error C1087.

 

is there a specific configuration to allow a numerical code?

Report of Characteristics Value for Multiple Materials

Dear Techies,

 

We have a 300 Class type which is assigned to the Material Master Classification view and have values assigned to the Materials. Now I would like to retrieve a report of a Characteristics Value for my required selection of Materials (Nearly 20 Materials). Is there any report where we can retrieve the Report of the Characteristics value for these required 20 Materials.

 

Please provide your inputs.

Pop Up of Characteristic During sales order creation

Hi,

 

In normal sceanrio we are getting screen interface for the characteristic in sales order.

 

But my requirement is while sales order creation system while give pop - up for specific characterstic in specified sequence.

 

Please let me know how to configure this.

Delete unit of measure from class characteristic

Hi,

 

I need to delete the unit of measure from a class characteristic (in CT04). I get the error:

 

Unit used cannot be changed

Message no. C1 132

Diagnosis

You want to change the unit of measurement for a characteristic. This is not allowed once allowed values have been maintained for the characteristic, or once the characteristic is used.

Procedure: Change your entries.

 

What do I need to do so I can change the uom?

Characteristic - Change Overview

I created one charatceristic using t-code CT04. The same is included in class type 300 using t-code CL02. Again this characteristic is classified in one more class (Class Type 012) by another user. This is done using t-code CT04 --> Menu Goto --> Classification. Where can I get the information which user classified this characteristic in class type 012 and when it is done.

I have need to pop up message @ sales order configuration.

Is it possible to do same, when user is configuring product.

 

We have need to guide user when they are configuring sales order.

 

Our complex configuration is difficult to remember. some cases we have to guide user through pop up message.

 

Is it possible?

Inconsistent characteristic value assignment error

Hi,

 

I am new to VC and working for Steel Industry.

 

I want to do characteristic Value Assingment using MM01/MM02 - MRP3 view - > clicked Configure Variant.

 

The error shows as :

 

Inconsistent characteristic value assignment

Message no. C1821

 

The characteristic conflict shows for the characteristic Grade.

 

I have created the below masters.

 

Characteristics (CT04)

Class type 300 with Characteristics (CL02)

Material Master Classification assigned the class type 300 (MM01/MM02)

Configurable Material (MM01)

Dependency - (CU01/CU02)

Configuration Profile (CU41/CU42)

 

 

Anybody can please help me to solve this issue.
