Dependency Rule &Code for combinations in Variant configuration

$

Hello Experts,

Need your help to write dependency to select BOM component from Super BOM for multiple combinations.

Need to map a below requirement.

Characteristics :

1 Control Panel (CP)

2. Additional Material (AM)

3. Components(COM)

Values for respective Characteristics

1.Control Panel (CP): i) CP1

                                ii) CP2

                               iii) CP3

2. Additional Mat (AM):

                              i) AM1

                              ii) AM2

                             iii) AM3

3. Components (COM):

                                i) COM1

                                ii)COM2

                                iii)COM3

                                iv)COM4

                                v) COM5

So Base on combinations of characteristics values of CP & AM, Value of COM should change

Say

IF Control Pannel= CP1 & Additional Material= AM1 then COM=COM1,COM2,COM3

IF Control Pannel= CP2 & Additional Material= AM1 then COM=COM2,COM3,COM5

IF Control Pannel= CP3 & Additional Material= AM2 then COM=COM1,COM2,

IF Control Pannel= CP2 & Additional Material= AM3 then COM=COM3,COM4,COM5

Can you Please suggest what dependency Rule and CODE I need to use.

Append a new value in a characteristic of the multiple material classifications

Hi,

I want to add a value to a characteristic without overwriting the existing values.I want to do it for multiple materials at the same time i.e. it is a mass update.

I tried CLMM transaction. CLMM>Set and change values donot add to existing values. Either it replaces the existing values with new one or it throws an error when it finds some values exist in the material characterstic.

Through CLMM>Assign values in matrix, we have to manually do F4 for every material and add a new value.

Please suggest if I am missing something for CLMM or any other standard option for this mass change.

Thanks in Advance.

Characteristic value Counter (AUSP-ATZHL)

Dear Expert,

I have some problem to link data between table AUSP and CAWN / CAWNT.

I have created characteristic/class for equipment and assigned into equipment master.

There are 8 possible values in for characteristic so in the table CAWN there are 8 values which CAWN-ATZHL has value 1-8.

Then when I assigned class with this characteristic to one equipment and selected value number 5, in the table AUSP does not show the correct value. The characteristic value counter (AUSP-ATZHL) is 1. Once I changed the value for this characteristic in the equipment master, the characteristic value counter (AUSP-ATZHL) is switched from 1 to 2 only. It seems that AUSP-ATZHL is not linked to CAWN-ATZHL.

Change logging for classification not same as other change loggings in SAP

$

Hello Dear Friends,

I have a question regarding the behaviour of SAP for change logging, when we make some change in characteristics values of a class in the classification view of MM record.

I see that the behaviour is quite strange.

Prior to going into detail, let me inform that, I have already activated the change logging for the class type & object in customization under "Cross application components".

I can view the change logs for any change in value for a characteristics of the class type 001. (Material class)

But in the changes the old value of characteristics is not shown many of the times.(Strangely sometime it shows the old values as well) Only new value what is being entered is shown.

If I remove the characteristics value, mean I make it blank. Then the change log doesn't show anything. I just can't understand why there is so much anomaly in the behaviour in which change is getting logged?

I have attached a screen shot of the logs for changes for your reference.

Note: Got one reference to this behaviour. But the lines are not understood properly.

CT04 and the 'several dependencies' issue

$

Hello everyone,

I'm new in the Community, and I hope I can help and learn as much as possible here

Let me share with you a little issue I have been struggling longer than what I'd like to regarding T codeCT04.

I will try to explain it as simplest as possible, as I have not much experience and I am also using a lot of business specific data:

I use CU01 for defining several dependencies such as:

DependencyD_A which definition is ENG_MOD='V6'

Dependency D_B which definition is ENG_MOD='WANKLE'

I use CL02 for defining a Class named ENG_PROPERTIES, and it has two Characteristics (ENG_YEAR and ENG_MOD).

I use CT04 for managing CharacteristicENG_YEAR.

I may want to define the Value2007 within the CharacteristicENG_YEAR, and create its Objects Dependencies.

If I set an Object Dependency called D_A (using the one I already made on CU01); then, the ENG_YEAR = 2007 has a Dependency with ENG_MOD = V6.

And everything is working properly!

PS: I am using a made-up example, trying to make it simple. This example could mean that one of the options of engines manufactured during 2007 could be a model of V6 engine...

HOWEVER!!!!!

If I set a second Object Dependency called D_B (using the one I already made on CU01); then, the ENG_YEAR = 2007SHOULD have both Dependencies with ENG_MOD = V6 and ENG_MOD = WANKLE.

This would mean that an engine manufactured during 2007 could be a V6 engine or a Wankle engine.

I use IA05 for defining a General Maintenance Task List for an engine called RP01. I link RP01 with ClassENG_PROPERTIES, and I fill in the Characteristics fields:

- ENG_MOD: V6.

- ENG_YEAR: 2007.

If I use these values, then SAP gives me an Inconsistency. And this does not happen if the Characteristic has ONLY ONE Object Dependency...

I feel like having two Object Dependencies does not work as a Logical OR. Could this be the reason?

I know a way to solve it, which is setting an Object Dependency which definition is ENG_MOD='V6' OR ENG_MOD='WANKLE'.

But due to the impact it has in the System (and in myself), this is not the option I would like to take...

Is there any formula for setting several Object Dependencies (already defined in CU01) working as OR?

I'm sorry for the huge message, but I wanted to explain it properly and the easiest way (even though is a large message, I hope it is not hard to understand).

Thank you very much for your help!

Dear Gurus,

Before posting this thread, we have referred many SDN threads, OSS notes and other sites for any sort of help..but no success..All threads and other referrals are not much of help as they are kind of incomplete( Perhaps, we are unable to understand them..no offense).

Few checked threads on this subjects are:

http://scn.sap.com/thread/851070

OSS: 549563

Well, we're using the BAPI (BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2) which creates the sales order successfully but without the characteristic values in line items.

We're passing data to the following parameters - ORDER_CFGS_REF, ORDER_CFGS_INST, ORDER_CFGS_VALUE to create the variant config but not able to see it getting created.

Pls find attached BAPI coding document for your reference.

If you could throw any light on this issue will be of great help for us.

Thank You in Advance!!!

Validating Characteristics created in CT04

HI Experts

Any Idea how can i check two conditions in a Characteristics field.

I have characteristics as Start_Date and End_Date.

One pre-condition I have added and is working fine.

Condition is - End Date >= Start Date.

Need to add one more -

The above condition will be checked if End Date is not null or End Date does not have any value.

Also, I'm confused on what  is difference between -

1. Pre-Condition

2. Action

3,.Procedure

4. Selection Procedure

5. Constraint

(And when these are used).

Hi All,

We are working with a scenario where we willl use some characteristics and dependencies.

We have been able to fill out values in one characteristic depending on another value.

But we would also like to switch a characterstic from Display to Open if a specific value is given to another characteristic.

Does anyone know how this should be written or where i can find documentation about how to this.

Thanks in Advance!

Dear Experts,

I have following queries in variant configuration.

1. I am aware of the variant configuration process with sale order processing. I would like to know the application of variant configuration with  Engineering configuration ie I want to simulate the configuration profile in t-code CU50 with option in configuration as Engineering and  how its application is used in PLM

2. I have created a customized material type by copying KMAT material type with indicator "Material is configurable" is active. But while creating a material code in MM01, I cannot see the "Material is configurable indicator" in Basic data 2 view and field "Configurable material" in MRP 3 view for child component material master. Please let me know which customization I need to check for this issue

I have checked enough SCN postings before posting this. Please provide your suggestion

Hi Experts,

We have a requirement to to hide a Characteristics value dependent on other characteristics value.

For Ex:

CH001=Document Status-Value derived from the DIR.

CH002=Type

a. Structural

b. casting

I need to hide the characteristics values of CH002 entered for DIR CH001 Document Status is Released(RL).

Please let me know if there is any way we can hide the values entered either by using a object dependencies or BADI's.

Please help.

SCREEN_DEP INVISIBLE Doesn't work

$

Hi Gurus,

I've created a characteristics NO_DISPLAY and in the 'Additional data' tab I've assigned structure SCREEN_DEP with field INVISIBLE.

I created a class called BIKE of type 300 and assigned NO_DISPLAY,  SADDLE and GEAR to it.

I created a dependency with the following code and assigned it to 'GEAR" Characteristics

$SELF.NO_DISPLAY = 'GEAR' IF SADDLE = 'A'

I'm assigning class BIKE to equipment. I'm expecting that when value 'A' on SADDLE characteristics is selected; the GEAR characteristics disappears however characteristics GEAR is still visible. Any idea what the problem is here.

Thank you

BOM components result check in SAP Variant Configuration

$

Hi Experts,

I'm using the Variant Configuration  and I am faced with the following problem :

  • I use the CU50 transaction to simulate the configuration of a Product using the various characteristics required.
  • Among these characteristics, I use to trigger the errors made during configuration.
  • Then, based on the super BOM and selection criteria via Object Dependency (OD), I check the components required for the desired configuration.

My issue is :

In some configurations, I cannot integrate one or more components as they are not yet created in the system (the simplest solution is to create them in the system), but for manyr reasons I want to create an error message saying, for example,” the configuration is Incomplete “when running the CU50.

My idea is :

The “Missed”component " (Not yet to be created in the system) will be caught in the super BOM as a “Text Item” with selection criteria in the OD as usual.

When I simulate my configuration via CU50 that will appeal to a "missing" component, I want the system generates me an error message indicating that “the configuration is Incomplete” with a list of "missing" components (i.e with item category " T " as text item in the super BOM)

Is there any Function Module  (or code) that I can use in this way (perhaps in a procedure) to achieve this control and generate the desired error message?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Simulation Mode not working when Transferring BOM Quantity Values to Superior Item

Hello All,

I have created the following characteristic and assigned the same to class

Capture.PNG

The character has the following values

Capture.PNG

Bills of material have been created for the superior configurable item.

Capture1.PNG

The object dependency has been written in cu03 transaction code to transfer the quantity in the bills of material to the characteristic values of the superior item

Capture2.PNG

The object dependency code has been assigned to the configuration profile

Capture.PNG

However when I check the  result in simulation mode. The value 3 is not coming automatically which needs to be set in the characteristic value of the superior item (summation of the qty of the bills of material created in cs03)

Capture.PNG

Please advice if I am missing any configurations.
